There’s something really special about Fletcher Moss in the summertime. On this warm evening in June, the golden light filtered through the trees, the wildflowers were in full bloom, and the whole place felt like a peaceful escape tucked away in the heart of Didsbury.

I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a lovely family who had travelled all the way from London for their session. They were visiting family up north and wanted to capture this fleeting season with their 6-month-old baby, just on the cusp of sitting, full of smiles, and fascinated by the world around her.

As a Manchester family photographer, I love sessions like this. There’s a quiet magic to photographing babies at this age. Everything is new, and everything is a wonder. We kept the session slow and calm, giving plenty of space for cuddles, soft giggles, and the kind of everyday moments that feel like everything when you look back on them.

We found a spot in the long grass and let the baby lay back and take it all in, watched her little fingers grab at wildflowers, and captured the kind of gentle, natural moments between parents and baby that always mean the most. Fletcher Moss was the perfect setting. Open, green, and full of soft evening light that wrapped around them like a blanket. This relaxed family photoshoot in Manchester was about connection, not perfection. There were no poses, no pressure, just a beautiful evening spent soaking up a season that passes all too quickly.
